Since the first lockdown in March 2020 East Lothian Council has continued to provide essential services across the county.

The focus and our main priorities has been our response to COVID and essential works including for example bin collections,  road maintenance, management of our coast and open spaces as well as the many other front facing activities to support our communities.

As we move through the Scottish Government’s permitted incremental easing of COVID-19 restrictions and levels over the next few weeks and months you will see more front line activities within your community.

We are continuing to follow all UK and Scottish Government guidance as we carry out our operational activities.

Before we begin any activities, we carry out extensive risk assessments to ensure we’re able to do the work while meeting all current coronavirus safety guidelines.

Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines and we’d ask you to please keep your distance too and  avoid approaching frontline staff unless necessary.

This will help to ensure we keep you and our staff safe.

These have unprecedented times for us all. We’re immensely proud of how our employees have risen to the challenges we’ve faced in the past year. From our key workers on the frontline to our support teams who’ve adapted to working safely and successfully from home.
