East Lothian Giftcard recipients are being encouraged to spend their cards to help local businesses

East Lothian Gift Cards were a big seller over the Christmas period – with almost £50,000-worth purchased.

And now, with East Lothian in Protection Level Two and all of our retailers able to open, as well as attractions, gyms, close contact services and, of course, hospitality & accommodation – there’s never been a better time to get spending!

Councillor John McMillan, East Lothian Council’s spokesperson for Economic Development and Tourism, said: “There’s no doubt that 2020 was a difficult year for businesses but we are now hopefully turning a big corner and very much looking towards recovery. I would encourage anyone who has received a Gift Card to think about where they’d like to spend it! By spending your Gift Card in any East Lothian business, they then get the benefit of increased sales at a crucial time in the post-COVID-19 economic recovery period. There are many participating outlets, across a range of sectors, which are listed on the Gift Card website.”

The cards are valid for a full 12 months from purchase. Customers can check their balance at any time by scanning the QR code on the back of the card, or by visiting the website, or calling the number noted on the card.

Remember, too, that it’s always a great time to purchase a Gift Card for any special occasion. They are available year-round from the website.

Any businesses interested in joining the scheme should contact elinvestments@eastlothian.gov.uk or visit www.eastlothiangiftcard.co.uk/get-involved/
