Following implementation of the Fireworks (Scotland) Miscellaneous Amendments Regulations 2021, Trading Standards officers conducted advisory visits to East Lothian retailers at end of October.

Prior to 5 November, officers attempted to purchase fireworks outside of the permitted sales times of between 7am and 6pm. We are pleased to report that no sales were made - giving a compliance rate of 100% across East Lothian.

Across the county the number of firework related anti social behaviour complaints received was also reduced in the days around 5 November.

Feedback received from retailers and the public has been positive towards the reduced selling hours with some retailers selling a range of quieter fireworks.
