Continued action in response to pollution incident at Musselburgh

In recent days the specialist contractor, brought in by the council to support clean-up work, has continued to renew booms in the watercourse which are designed to contain contamination and protect the natural environment.

A tanker was in attendance on Thursday and removed as much of the material being contained as it would allow.

Good progress has been made and further remedial work is planned for tomorrow.

We continue to liaise with partner organisations including SEPA on this matter and are continuing to closely monitor the impacts, with investigations into the matter ongoing.
