A number of East Lothian Council Champions have been appointed to help raise the profile of key community activities and promote positive partnership working.
Duties include connecting with local organisations and representing their views on relevant aspects of council activities, acting as an advocate for their area of responsibility and explaining the council’s position on specific issues of concern.
Council Leader Norman Hampshire said:
“This is a very positive development for East Lothian Council and the communities we serve.
“Our Champions will be a positive focus for the local community who will ensure full consideration is given to the impact of council activities and decisions in respect of enterprise, young people, older people, armed forces and veterans as well as the voluntary sector.”
The Champions were appointed in two stages with the agreement of elected members at the June and August meetings of East Lothian Council.
They are as follows:
- Enterprise – Cllr Ruaridh Bennett
- Young People – Cllr Brooke Ritchie
- Older People – Cllr Carol McFarlane
- Armed Forces and Veterans – Cllr John McMillan
- Voluntary Sector – Cllr Colin McGinn
