Traffic Regulation Orders available to view for an extended period until 22 October.

Traffic Regulation Orders to introduce and/or amend enforceable waiting restrictions in various roads in North Berwick are available to view for an extended period until 22 October.

Proposals include the introduction of controlled parking zones, with permits available for residents for an annual charge, and time restrictions and charges for on street parking and parking within the town centre off-street car parks.

It provides further opportunity for people to discover more about the proposals and to raise objections.

A copy of the proposed Order, Schedules, plans showing the extent of the restrictions and the statement of reasons for making the Order can be viewed at Reception, John Muir House, Haddington; North Berwick Community Centre; North Berwick library and Gullane library.  

These documents are available for inspection for the period from 28 August 2023 to 22 October 2023 during normal office hours. They will also be available at https://www.tellmescotland.gov.uk/notices/east-lothian/traffic/00000300138 and https://northberwickparking.commonplace.is/(via the North Berwick Draft TRO – Document Library button)   

A council spokesperson said: “In line with the current Traffic Orders Regulations, following a period of extensive consultation, East Lothian Council is providing notice of the making of the Traffic Regulation Orders. Details of these Orders have been shared with a range of stakeholders in North Berwick and further afield in East Lothian.

“As a result of feedback we have decided to extend the time period for representations in relation to the TROs by three weeks until 22 October. We appreciate there are a number of documents associated with the TROs and this will give individuals and/or groups an extended period of time to raise any objections or representations.”

Any person may before expiry of the period noted above object to the making of the Order. Any objection must be in writing and must specify the grounds thereof and should be addressed to:
