Two concerts are being held on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 October in St Mary’s Kirk, Haddington, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Join East Lothian Council’s Instrumental Music Service and young performers from the county’s schools for two exceptional evenings of music for one exceptionally good cause.

Instrumentalists from all of East Lothian’s secondary schools will be participating performing a mix of music. Pipers, bands, small groups and solo performers make up the programme raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The concerts have taken place annually since 2009, with the exception of two years due to Covid, and has raised more than £15,000 to date.

East Lothian Council’s Instrumental Music Service Manager Jonathan Gawn said: “It’s incredible what has been achieved with these fundraising concerts over the past 14 years. Maxine Wilson, one of the Instrumental Music Service’s talented piano tutors, works tirelessly to get these concerts off the ground each year, to support this incredibly worthwhile cause.

“It’s a real treat for our young people to play solos and chamber music in such a beautiful space and the atmosphere is always incredible. Maxine is the one at the back of the church, leading the team providing the interval refreshments, and I wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank her for the tireless work for our young people and this superb cause. It’s sure to be another great occasion.”

The concerts will be held on 7pm on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 October in St Mary’s Kirk, Haddington. Tickets cost £5 for adults or £2.50 for concessions and are available online at www.eastlothian.gov.uk/IMS-tickets
