New attraction opens in time for Easter holidays

A new play area with equipment suitable for toddlers through to teenagers has opened at Yellowcraig coastal site. The design was chosen by pupils from Dirleton Pimary School, Gullane Primary School and Law Primary School, North Berwick and replaces an earlier play area.

Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing, Cllr Colin McGinn, said: “The play area at Yellowcraig has been a popular attraction for residents and visitors over the years and it’s great that the new play area has opened in time for the Easter holidays. The Council has invested in play areas across the county and in recent years has installed new equipment in Musselburgh, Pencaitland and Aberlady with further installations shortly in Tranent and Dunbar.

“The new play area is not just appealing for a range of ages but also includes equipment accessible for young people with mobility issues including wheelchair users. The installation work was undertaken by Amenity Services Play Squad and I would like to thank them for completing the work earlier than scheduled and working through some miserable weather conditions to do so!”

The play area improvements in Yellowcraig have been funded with a combination of East Lothian Council capital funding and Scottish Government funding for Play Parks renewal.
