An enhanced play area will open tomorrow (Saturday, 5 April) in Gullane’s Memorial Park.
A range of challenging, exciting and inclusive new play equipment for different ages and abilities has been installed.
This includes a basket swing and sensory pathway as well as a double cableway (flying fox) and a wheelchair accessible see-saw.
A new connecting pathway has also been constructed to improve the play area.
The work was carried out following an extensive community consultation to find out what people, particularly local children and young people, wanted to see there.
Cllr Colin McGinn, East Lothian Council's Cabinet Spokesperson for Community Wellbeing and Sport, Countryside and Leisure, said: “I’m pleased this enhanced play area is open for children, young people and families to enjoy, and right in time for the Easter break and the nicer weather.
“I’m grateful to all those who offered their feedback on the design during the consultation process and I’m sure it will prove a popular and inclusive space for the community.”
The improvement to the play area, which will open at 10.30am on Saturday, was funded by Section 75 developer contributions funding.
Further renewals through Scottish Government Play Parks Renewal external funding are now in progress for play areas in Prestonpans, Tranent and North Berwick.
