Over £170,000 has been given to East Lothian organisations to help fund the development of their facilities.
Local groups contribute invaluably to East Lothian’s rich and varied community life. The Community Intervention Fund supports their work by providing grants for facilities.
The East Lothian Council Community Intervention Fund provided eight groups with grants towards their capital costs. This includes £10,000 to Eskmuthe Community Rowing Club to build a boatshed that will serve as a social and learning space and over £28,000 to Tyninghame Community Farm for various works including the creation of a borehole, purchase and installation of irrigation system and caterpillar tunnel, and other equipment.
Applications for the Community Intervention Fund are invited twice a year for grants towards a capital project. Funding is available for up to 60% of eligible project costs up to a maximum of £50,000 for schemes that support delivery of the Council plan.
Cabinet member for Community Wellbeing Councillor Colin McGinn welcomed the funding. He said: “Local groups contribute invaluably to East Lothian’s rich and varied community life.
“The Community Intervention Fund supports their work by providing grants for facilities, allowing them to develop and maintain the spaces and equipment that they need. Not only does this encourage their own ambitions, it also furthers our vision of East Lothian as a place that enables people and communities to flourish.
“Our One Council Partnership Fund will shortly open for applications giving local groups further opportunities to secure financial support for their vital work.”
