The railings along the southern edge of Port Seton Harbour will be restored for the benefit of users and visitors alike.

Port Seton Harbour Commissioners and East Lothian Council have worked together over a number of months to devise a renewal plan.

The railings were installed in the 1990s in a joint venture between East Lothian District Council and the Scottish Development Agency along with other improvements to Port Seton Harbour included as part of that project.  The aim was to create a coastal pathway from Musselburgh to Port Seton which would enhance the environment and boost the local economy.

A similar approach has been taken for the restoration work with funding provided by East Lothian Council, including support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund 2025/2026, and from the Harbour Commissioners.

A Port Seton Harbour Commissioners spokesperson said: “We are delighted with the outcome and extend our thanks to East Lothian Council. This has been a great example of positive partnership working.”

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “The restoration of the railings will be a welcome addition to the harbour area where many people come to enjoy this beautiful part of the county. We are grateful to the Harbour Commissioners for their hard work and commitment to bringing these improvements to fruition.”
