  • grants available for projects that reduce unemployment and increase income through employment
  • over £500,000 was awarded to 15 projects last year

East Lothian Local Employability Partnership brings together a range of bodies including East Lothian Council, Skills Development Scotland, Edinburgh College and VCEL. It first established a fund in 2022/23 as part of its work to reduce unemployment and increase income through employment.

Targeted and flexible support

Using grant funding, the authority’s East Lothian Works team has been able to increase partnerships with third and private sector providers to offer a more targeted and flexible employability service that addressed potential barriers to work. This includes disability, neurodivergence, mental health, confidence, core and life skills and people who have been involved in the criminal justice system. Over £500,000 was awarded to 15 projects last year.

The 2026/27 Employability Grants Programme is being funded through Scottish Government No One Left Behind monies.
