Nursery admissions criteria

We allocate funded places on a priority system. This is listed below.

Some children will be eligible for funded hours from age 2 (known as eligible 2s). Those children will be given priority from aged 3 to remain in that setting for their ante- and pre-school years.

Priority system 1-6

  1. Children resident in East Lothian who have been agreed through East Lothian Council’s exceptional needs process as requiring significant additional support to enable them to reach their full potential.
  2. Children resident in East Lothian who have been agreed through East Lothian Council’s exceptional needs process as requiring a retained year  (i.e. children of statutory school age who are given an additional year of Early Learning and Childcare).
  3. Children resident in East Lothian who have deferred entry to Primary School agreed.
  4. Children resident in East Lothian in their pre-school year in order of their birth date, oldest first.
  5. Children resident in East Lothian who have reached their third birthday and are born within the dates of eligibility below, in order of their birth date, oldest first.
  6. Eligible children who are not resident in East Lothian.

1 October to 31 December
