Access to Dunbar Station

Dunbar Station North Access

East Lothian Council and Ardent Consulting Engineers have developed conceptual plans to improve access and connections between Dunbar Railway Station, High Street and the surrounding roads - making it easier and safer for everyone to get around.

We've interviewed station users, local residents and stakeholders, and carried out surveys, traffic counts, and an online consultation to understand how people move through the area. In May we held a public drop-in session at the Bleachingfield Centre to gather views on the revised proposal which was shared online. Comments were also received via email.

Further revisions will be made as a result of the feedback received, and these will again be shared with the community. Once the concept design has been agreed with stakeholders including ScotRail and Network Rail, we will carry out a preliminary Road Safety Audit before developing further detailed design and seeking funding for construction.

Network Rail are reviewing whether a new access can be created into the station from Spott Road. Plans will be shared in due course.

Dunbar Station South Access

The new access to platform 2 is now complete, thanks to funding from the Scottish Government's Active Travel Infrastructure Fund.
