Replacement bridge at Riverside Drive, Haddington
A public consulatation in 2022 highlighted strong support for the footbridge connecting Riverside Drive to the facilities across the River Tyne to be upgraded and widened. Bearing in mind that there are likely to be issues with higher flood levels in future, it makes sense to also consider increasing its clearance of the river.
East Lothian Council’s Housing, Active Travel and Structures Teams are investigating options for redesigning the bridge to meet these needs, and a report will be made available once complete. Once a concept design is agreed with the community, we hope to secure funding for construction, but this is likely to be several years away.
