Immigration housing inspections and letters

If you require to bring an individual or individuals to live in the UK from outside Europe, an Immigration Letter is required.  The Council’s Environmental Protection Team can assist with this.

On payment of the appropriate fee, an officer will arrange to visit your property and carry out the required inspection.  We will consider the space within your property including the number of rooms and services as well as the number of people already living there.  We will determine if the property will become overcrowded by the extra person(s) and will then provide a letter confirming their findings.

You can request an immigration inspection/letter by emailing the environmental protection team. In your request, please provide the following information:

  • the address of your property and the number of rooms
  • the number of people living in the property (including ages of children)
  • the number of people wishing to enter the UK (including ages of children)
