Environmental Health can investigate and where necessary act where the source of water appears to be coming from another property such as a burst or leaking pipe or tank.
Scottish Water are responsible for drainage issues occurring beyond the property boundary. To report an issue, Scottish Water can be contacted on 0800 0778 778 or through the Scottish Water online portal.
Many rural properties are not connected to the mains sewer and have shared sewage treatment systems such as septic tanks. Owners of these systems are responsible for ongoing maintenance and emptying. Further guidance on septic tank maintenance can be found on the SEPA website.
