Parking Enforcement

East Lothian offers a range of parking facilities to accommodate the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.

The majority of streets in East Lothian enjoy unrestricted parking and these are generally located in residential or rural areas. In busier town centres or locations where road safety is a concern (eg. at junctions or schools) restrictions have been introduced to manage parking, loading and unloading.

On 23rd January 2017, the Scottish Government granted East Lothian Council with powers to introduce decriminalised parking enforcement and have appointed NSL Services to enforce the restrictions in streets where a traffic regulation order exists.

Such restrictions may include:-

  • Yellow Lines
  • Time-limited parking bays
  • Loading bays
  • Disabled bays
  • Residents parking
  • Coach parking
  • Parking at schools

To avoid receiving a £60 penalty charge notice (PCN) drivers should comply with the restrictions indicated by the signs and lines displayed on the street.
