Opening Times

Tranent library will be open over lunchtime on Fridays from Friday 1 December during the winter period however we will be unable to take cash payments between 1:00pm to 2:00pm. 

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 9:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Wednesday 10:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm

Saturday 10:00am to 1:00pm 

Click and Collect Service

Borrowers are able to order specific titles or a selection of items up to a maximum of 6 per person and collect them from the library. Complete the click and collect form or contact the library direct on:

Blue Badges

  • Adult Book Group - Third Friday of the month from 11:00am – 12:00pm. Please contact staff for more information.
  • Adult Colouring In - every Tuesday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
  • Bookbug sessions ( under 5's) -  every Tuesday at 11:00am and every Thursday at 11:00am.
  • Board Game Club  ( for ages 8 years and upwards)  - every Friday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
  • Dungeons and Dragons - every Tuesday from 3:30pm to 4:45pm (currently full). Please contact staff for more information.
  • Dungeons and Dragons ( for adults) - every Saturday from 11:00am to 12:30pm.
  • Friday Fun Sessions (activities, games and play) - every Friday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
  • Knitting and Crochet Group -  every Monday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Please bring your own materials.
  • Play Jam - open play sessions every Wednesday from 2:00pm to 4:30pm.
  • Stay and Play - every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30am to 12:30pm for preschool children.
