Proposed Local Development Plan
Proposed Local Development Plan 2016
East Lothian Council approved its Proposed Local Development Plan on the 6 of September 2016, having regard to the consultation responses on the Main Issues Report (consulted on from 17 November 2014 to 8 February 2015).
The proposed LDP sets out a development strategy for the future of East Lothian to 2024 and beyond, as well as a detailed policy framework for guiding development: it consists of a written statement as well as a proposals map (including inset maps). A draft Action Programme relating to the delivery of the proposed LDP has been prepared as well as other draft consultation documents and supporting information (see full list of consultation documents below).
The proposed LDP sets out where new development should and should not occur, including housing, education, economic and retail development, new transport links, and other infrastructure. Once adopted by the Council, the proposed LDP will replace the East Lothian Local Plan 2008, which until then will remain the adopted local plan for the area.
East Lothian proposed local development plan is published for public representation from 19 September 2016 to 7 November 2016.
You may inspect the proposed Plan and all supporting documents, free of charge, at the following locations: during office hours, at East Lothian Council, John Muir House, Haddington EH41 3HA; at the local libraries within East Lothian; all documentation is available to view and download at the bottom of this page.
Representations must be made in writing and clearly state the issues to be considered by the Council or by a Reporter at examination, including any modifications sought as part of the representation. The name, address and contact details of submitters will be required in order for the Council or any examination to consider their representations and to notify such persons of the opportunity to participate in any examination.
In accordance with the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997,(as amended), the Council will make available for inspection by the public a copy of any presentations received as well as the name of the submitter.
Please note that there may be no further opportunity for Submitters to expand on their representations later in the process.
