The Museums Service operates museums at:

We also support the Musselburgh Museum and Heritage Group to operate Musselburgh Museum and the Coastal Communities Museum Trust to operate the Coastal Communities Museum.

You can find out more about each of the museums by clicking the links above or by clicking here to find out more about visiting our museums. Please visit the individual museum's pages for full details of opening hours, location, transport links, facilities, parking, access information, facilities and more. All of our Museums are free to visit, although donations are welcome. We have a variety of fascinating exhibitions and a busy programme of temporary exhibitions. We run activities for adults, children and families, offer a range of learning opportunities and have a friendly team of volunteers. We also welcome groups of all ages and interests. We have a number of very attractive venues with rooms that can be hired out by groups. In addition, the Service actively supports activities, events and exhibitions by community groups across East Lothian.

Behind the scenes...

The Museums Service manages and runs the museums listed above and looks after the East Lothian Council Museum Collection. Anything in the collection but not on display is held in our environmentally-controlled store at the Museums Service Headquarters in Haddington. While this is not open to the public, appointments can be arranged to view specific objects within the reserve collection upon request, just get in touch! View more information about the museum collection and how to access the reserve collection.
