Volunteering can open up all sorts of opportunities while giving you the chance to learn new skills and meet new people.

Volunteering with East Lothian Council

The Council offers a range of volunteering opportunities. Many are tied to specific events like archaeological digs or local area clean-ups. If you would like to find out more about events like these, please email publicinfo@eastlothian.gov.uk or phone 01620 827199; we will add you to our email database and let you know when any new opportunities arise.

East Lothian Council's Befriending Service

Our Children with Disabilities Team is always looking for positive, enthusiastic volunteers to befriend children and young people with physical and/or learning disabilities. Through befriending, we hope to give them a better future by:

• increasing their confidence
• reducing their isolation and loneliness
• instilling hope in them
• building their resilience

Full training is given to our volunteers, and we encourage them to achieve formal volunteering certificates which can be used to develop their career.
