We provide free school transport for East Lothian pupils who live more than two miles away from their local primary or secondary school.

The pupil's home address is defined as being that of their parent or legal guardian, not the address of a child minder or relative who may care for them on school days.

In the event of parental separation the home address is defined as the address of the guardian receving the Child Benefit.

Free school transport isn't available if you choose to send your child to a school that isn't their local primary or secondary school.

Children qualifying for free transport are given a season ticket for public service routes. If public transport isn't available, we arrange a contract with a private transport company.

If you would like to apply for free school transport you can get an application form from your child's school or by contacting our transportation division on 01620 827737 / transportation@eastlothian.gov.uk.
