Tynebank Road, Haddington
Tynebank Road is home to Haddington Athletic FC's home ground Millfield, Scout Hall, Primary School as well as Haddington Care Home and the space is a well-used local amenity by the community. East Lothian Council has worked with key stakeholders to deliver this very important route. We received more than 200 responses during our public consultation on the planned path and we thank everyone who shared their views.
The new off-road path on the eastern side of Tynebank Road connects Mill Wynd to Meadowpark. It has created a safer route, in particular for pupils travelling to and from local schools and for Haddington Care Home on Mill Wynd, while offering improved access for those who walk, wheel or cycle.
Part-funded through the Ian Findlay Path Fund with a financial contribution from the council, the path runs alongside Haddington Athletic's grounds and the sports pitches with a crossing point outside the car home linking it to the existing footpath. Also included was the installation of a new raised table crossing point and drainage improvement work; planting along the path will follow in the autumn and winter.
Whether users are walking to school, cycling to work or heading out to the shops, this path now provides a safe, convenient and attractive way to make the trip.
