A Met Office amber warning of strong winds was in place until 3pm on Saturday 29 January as a result of 'Storm Malik'.

Updated 6.30pm - 29/1/22

While the amber warning has ended, windy conditions may persist and a yellow warning for wind comes into effect from 3pm on Sunday.

East Lothian Council has been and will continue to closely monitor the conditions with response teams, including Road and Amenity Services, dealing with ongoing impacts such as airborne debris.

Recycling centres in East Lothian were closed throughout Saturday but are due to re-open on Sunday, 30 January from 8.30am.

There have been reports of fallen trees and power outages in some parts of East Lothian. The Haddington and Dunbar and surrounding areas are among those to have been affected by power supply issues.

Power cuts or damage to electricity power lines or substations can be reported to Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) by telephoning 105. Further information - including to check if Scottish Power Energy Networks is aware of a power cut - can be found on their website.

SPEN will be working to restore supplies as quickly as possible.

We will continue to assess the situation throughout the weekend.

Our out of office telephone number for emergencies is 01875 612818.
