Information about our network of chargers.
As well as offering significant environmental benefits - less air pollution, less noise, lower CO2 emissions - electric vehicles can save you money. To support you in making the switch to electric power, East Lothian Council provides a reliable network of over 300 chargers including:
Our public chargers are connected to a variety of charging networks. Each network maintains a map of all their chargepoints either online or within their own App. The image below shows the distribution of chargers owned by East Lothian Council, and you can find a list of them here. Please note that privately-owned chargers (such as those in supermarket car parks) are not listed.
More and more businesses (e.g. supermarkets, hotels, fuel stations and private developers) are providing charging options for their customers. An overview of almost every charging option in East Lothian is available at ZapMap or Plugshare.
We also require new developments to provide chargers for residents. Click here to see our overview of what's being set up on new housing and business sites in East Lothian.
Would you like a charger in your area? We welcome suggestions, particularly from potential EV owners without off-street parking (and therefore without the ability to charge at home).
We publish our chargepoint usage statistics periodically, and they can be downloaded in an Excel spreadsheet from this link:
