Car clubs

You can hire a car club car or van by the hour. The vehicles are parked in local streets, and an app or a membership card unlocks the one you have booked, which you simply return when you are done.

Insurance, maintenance and fuel are all covered in the price of the hire, and most car clubs allow you to choose from a range of vehicles - large or small, petrol or electric. You might be surprised how much cheaper using a car club is compared to owning a private car, and making the switch will help bring down carbon emissions across East Lothian, while relieving congestion and parking issues in our communities.

There are two car clubs with vehicles in East Lothian – Co-wheels and Enterprise. They both currently operate from Musselburgh. 

Bike hire

eBikes and standard bicycles are available to hire on a day-by-day basis from East Lothian independent bike shops:

• Musselburgh – Ace Bike Co

People living in or visiting Pencaitland can hire electric bikes for a week or more from the community eBike hire scheme.
