Find out about ELOTM
Employers that focus on how their staff get around, and take steps to make those choices more sustainable, are likely to see a number of benefits including reduced emissions, lower costs and increases in wellbeing of staff. These organisations will also make be making positive contributions to their local community and making themselves more attractive places to work.
For advice on workplace travel planning and promotion of sustainable travel we recommend TravelKnowHow and Way to Work. Bespoke advice, support and funding for low carbon business travel is available from Energy Saving Trust, while Cycling Scotland, Living Streets and WalkWheelCycleTrust offer a range of workplace programmes to encourage walking and cycling.
We are supporting the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal to deliver the Workforce Mobility Project, which has the following objectives:
The first stage of this project began in 2022 involving the collection of student or employee home postcode and shift pattern data. This will be analysed alongside data on places of study or employment to help the project team understand how bus services or active travel networks can be optimised to meet demand.
If you are an employer or training provider in East Lothian and would like to contribute to this work, or would like to ask a question, you can do so by emailing the project team.
A note of the most frequently asked questions about this project, and our responses to those, is available here.
A copy of the Data Protocol and Data Protection Impact Assessment governing this project are available on request from the project team.
