Funding and Support

The Arts Service aims to support and promote a wide range of activities and events, provide information about sources of arts funding, and offer advice about other available resources and help in making arts funding applications. We can also help with planning and coordinating arts activities and events for local festivals and galas.

Visual Artists and Craft Makers Awards (VACMA)

East Lothian Council, in partnership with Creative Scotland, have established a devolved funding scheme to support Visual Artists and Craft Makers to develop their creative practice.

Awards of up to a maximum value of £1,500 are available. The deadline for applications is Monday 5 September 2016. Who can apply?

  • Artists and craft makers living and/or working* within the East Lothian Council boundary (* working in East Lothian = occupying a studio)
  • Artists and craft makers of all ages
  • Artists and craft makers who can demonstrate a commitment to their work and to advancing their skills and ideas

The quality of the applicant’s work is key. Successful applicants will have shown commitment to developing their skills and ideas, achieving a body of work out with formal education.
