Occupational Therapy Services

The Community Occupational and Physiotherapy Teams can provide equipment and adaptations to support you with everyday tasks at home. This can include daily activities such as preparing meals and hot drinks, going to the toilet, washing or dressing yourself, and generally moving around safely within your own home and community.

Requests for Occupational Therapy assessments from care homes

If you would like to make a referral request to the Occupational Therapy Team for a resident within a care home, our team can assist with the following:

Assessments for: 

  • Sleep systems
  • Specialist hoist slings
  • Seating assessments
  • Specialist accessories that make a chair unique to a specific resident
     

Seating assessments

If the referral is for a seating assessments, it is important to refer to the COSLA agreement. This can be accessed here: www.gov.scot/publications/care-home-equipment-protocol/

  • Care homes are responsible for funding all seating provision.
  • The Occupational Therapy team can assess for the correct chair and provide advice and recommendations to the care home. If the chair requires bespoke items ( lateral supports) the occupational therapy service will fund these specific items .
