Energy efficiency for homeowners
Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Schemes (EES: ABS)
We deliver Area-Based Schemes (ABS) in partnership with contractors as part of the Scottish Government’s Energy Efficient Scotland programme. EES: ABS aims to:
- tackle fuel poverty by improving the energy efficiency of homes and lowering bills.
- support households with free or subsidised insulation and renewables.
- reduce carbon emissions helping Scotland and East Lothian Council meet climate targets.
- focus on vulnerable communities targeting those most in need.
We use this funding to install energy efficiency improvements such as:
- cavity wall insulation
- external wall insulation
- new loft insulation/top-up of existing loft insulation
- solar panels with battery storage systems
The scheme is open to homeowners and landlords who meet the eligibility criteria. We currently target areas which have been identified as vulnerable to fuel poverty and where Energy Performance Certificates highlight poor energy efficiency.
