School information

Knox Academy

Knox Academy in Haddington is set to grow significantly in pupil numbers over the next five years due to ongoing and planned development in the town. The school includes a library, school office, Senior Leadership team corridor, RMPS rooms, science and art rooms, sports, dance studio and PE changing rooms and a food court. Meadowpark, a specialist provision for young people with Additional Support Needs; it is an integral part of Knox Academy with many of the young people attending mainstream classes. Meadowpark is situated in the former Haddington Infant School, on Victoria Road, a short distance from the Knox campus.

Haddington Primary School

Haddington Primary School previously operated as two separate schools – Haddington Infants and Kings Meadow Primary schools – which came together as a single stream school in 2018. Haddington Infants moved into a shared campus with St Mary’s Primary School in 2012 while Kings Meadow was refurbished and reopened in 1993 following a previous fire at the site. The ‘infant’ campus, holds a Nursery Room, 14 class bases, library/IT room, GP/Music Room. It also shares a sports hall, movement and dance base, kitchen, dining room and extensive school grounds with St Mary’s Primary. The former King’s Meadow building, known as the upper Campus contains a sports hall/dining room, kitchen, 16 class bases, music room, drama base, IT suite, Support for Learning Base and two breakout rooms.

Letham Mains Primary School

Letham Mains Primary opened in February 2021 as part of the Letham Mains development on the west side of Haddington. The capital investment was entirely funded through developers’ contributions secured from house builders working on the site. Pupil numbers continue to grow. The school has 14 classrooms, an early learning and childcare centre, a dining hall, dance space and a two court sports PE hall with retractable seating for performance and community use. The external areas have been designed for outdoor learning, sport and play.

St Mary’s RC Primary School

St Mary’s RC Primary School was redeveloped as part of a shared campus with Haddington Primary School which opened in October 2012. It offers denominational education across primaries 1-7 and a nursery. The school combines six teaching classrooms and a general purpose room, a library, two resource rooms, a support for learning and small ‘quiet’ room, a large nursery room (which can be divided into two spaces) and three main offices. As part of the shared campus the school also shares a dining hall, sports hall, movement and dance room and two PE changing rooms with Haddington Primary School. Children enjoy learning and play in expansive shared grounds with climbing wall and other features to encourage active play.

Yester Primary School

Yester Primary School is a rural school situated in the village of Gifford, East Lothian. Constructed in 1958 to replace a traditional building on the Duns Road which was no longer fit for purpose, the school has seven classrooms, an assembly hall with dining area, kitchen, offices, staff room, general purpose room and a nursery. The school has been the subject of refurbishment over the years.
