Dunbar proposals

  • The initial proposals called for a free parking period of 30 minutes on High Street and the north end of Queens Road. Following the consultation and engagement process, it is proposed to remove Queens Road from the charging scheme and extend the free period to 45 minutes. The 90-minute maximum stay restriction would be retained while parking charges would be introduced at a rate of £1 for up to 75 minutes and £2 for up to 90 minutes
  • The initial proposals called for on-street charges for parking in areas adjacent to the High Street and the provision of resident parking permits with an annual fee to cover administration costs, including on Bayswell Road, Bayswell Park around Lauderdale Park and Victoria Street. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove these areas from on-street parking charges and the need for permits. Under the proposals before Council, all areas of on-street medium and long stay on-street parking with associated permit provisions have been removed. All areas of permit holder only parking have also been removed 
  • The initial proposals called for on-street long-stay parking charges on Countess Road, Countess Crescent and West Port and the provision of resident parking permits with an annual fee to cover administration costs. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove long stay on-street charging with resident permits. There would be charged on-street short-stay parking on the east section of Countess Road and Delisle Street, on-street long-stay parking on the mid-section of Countess Road with a charge of £0.50 per 30 minutes up to a maximum charge of £5.00 and a maximum stay of 23 hours, and limited waiting on the western section of Countess Road with parking areas allocated between two and 12-hour maximum stays 
  • The initial proposals assigned the Lauderdale car park as medium-stay parking with charges of £0.50 per 30 minutes, up to a maximum stay of five hours. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove the parking charge and introduce a maximum length of stay of three hours
  • The initial proposals called for the Countess Crescent car park to be assigned as medium-stay parking with charges of £0.50 per 30 minutes, up to a maximum stay of five hours. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove the parking charges and introduce a maximum length of stay of five minutes, except for users of the Bleachingfield Centre
  • The initial proposals assigned the Dunbar Leisure Centre car park as medium-stay parking with charges of £0.50 per 30 minutes, up to a maximum stay of five hours. Following the engagement, it is proposed to increase the maximum length of stay to six hours with 90 minutes of free parking for centre users. A parking charge for overnight motor caravan parking would also be introduced
  • It is proposed that there would be no change to the existing arrangements at the smaller Countess Crescent car park
  • The initial proposals assigned The Harbour car park as medium-stay parking with charges of £0.50 per 30 minutes, up to a maximum stay of five hours. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove these parking charges and restrictions
  • The initial proposals assigned The Vennel car park as medium-stay parking with charges of £0.50 per 30 minutes, up to a maximum stay of five hours. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove these parking charges and restrictions
  • It is proposed to assign the Abbeylands car park as long-stay parking with a charge of £0.50 per 30 minutes, up to a maximum charge of £5.00 and a maximum stay of 23 hours
  • It is proposed to assign the Countess Road car park as long-stay parking with a charge of £0.50 per 30 minutes, up to a maximum charge of £5.00 and a maximum stay of 23 hours
