Tranent proposals
- It is proposed to retain the 90-minute maximum stay restrictions on High Street and introduce parking charges. There would be 45 minutes of free parking while 75 minutes would cost £1.00 and 90-minutes costing £2.00
- The initial proposals called for on-street parking charges for areas adjacent to High Street and the provision of resident parking permits with an annual fee to cover administration costs. The parking charges would be £0.50 per 30 minutes up to a maximum stay of five hours. These locations included Loch Road, Bridge Street, New Row and Blawearie Road. Following the consultation and engagement process, it is proposed to reduce the maximum length of stay to three hours, except for permit holders
- The initial proposals assigned areas adjacent to High Street as resident permit parking only, including Elphinstone Road, John Crescent, Meeting House Drive, Balfour Square, Forester’s Square and Harkness Crescent. There would be an annual permit fee to cover administration costs. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove Elphinstone Road, John Crescent and Meeting House Drive from the resident permit parking scheme
- The initial proposals assigned Winton Place car park as short-stay parking with a maximum stay of 90 minutes and parking charges. There would be free parking for 45 minutes with up to 75 minutes costing £1.00 and £2.00 for up to 90 minutes. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove Sunday short-stay off-street charging while retaining the maximum 90-minute length of stay. It is also proposed to reduce the free parking period to 30 minutes
- The initial proposals assigned Lindores Drive car park as medium-stay parking with a charge of £0.50 per 30 minutes up to a maximum stay of five hours. Following the engagement, it is proposed to introduce 45 minutes of free parking at the car park with charges of £0.50 per 30 minutes up to a maximum length of stay of three hours
- The initial proposals assigned the Loch Road car park as medium stay parking with a maximum five hours stay and a charge of £0.50 per 30 minutes up to a maximum stay of five hours. Following the engagement, it is proposed to reduce the maximum length of stay to three hours
- The initial proposals assigned the Loch Centre car park as medium stay parking with a maximum five hours stay and charges of £0.50 per 30 minutes. Following the engagement, it is proposed to reduce the maximum length of stay to three hours, provide up to 90 minutes free parking for users of the Loch Centre and allocate the Loch Square area of the car park (adjacent to the medical centre) as free short-stay parking with a maximum stay of 45 minutes from Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 6:00pm
- The initial proposals assigned the Foresters car park as long-stay parking with an associated length of stay and parking charges. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove charging for parking
- The initial proposals assigned The Butts car park as long stay parking with an associated length of stay and parking charges. Following the engagement, it is proposed to remove the charge for parking
- It is proposed to introduce a five-minute maximum stay for parking at the George Johnson Centre except for centre users
