New bus services for East Lothian have been announced.

East Lothian Council has awarded contracts to replace the supported services elements of the bus routes returned by First Bus (First Scotland East).

The services concerned are listed below and include the new service numbers as well as the new service providers.

Councillor Michael Veitch, Cabinet spokesperson for Transport and Roads, explained:

"Due to the timescale involved it has not been possible to have all these services handed over to the new providers on the same date and therefore we thought it necessary to include the details of when each new service starts. It is of course very frustrating for regular bus users that there will be a small gap in services during the changeover period, however I'm confident that the new services will demonstrate a significant improvement in the quality of these routes."

  • 44B (Pencaitland-Edin) is now service 113, run by Lothian Buses, starting on 11 June
  • 110 (Cockenzie-Elphinstone) is now service 328, run by Edinburgh Coach Lines, starting on 1 July
  • 121 (Hadd-N Berwick) is still service 121, now run by Prentice Coaches, starting on 2 July
  • 123(Hadd-Gifford Circle) is still service 123, now run by Prentice Coaches, starting 2 July
  • 129(Seton Sands-Ocean Terminal) is still service 129, now run by Eve Coaches, starting on 2 July
