Margaret - Using Option 3
Margaret is an elderly lady who experienced a fall at home and was admitted to hospital with a fractured hip. Her son lives down south and visits her as often as he can. Her hospital social worker discussed her discharge with her and advised her that she felt a care package was needed to help her get back on her feet.
The social worker discussed all of her options with her and Margaret decided that she did not feel that she had the energy to manage her own support and would prefer that the council do this for her. Her hospital social worker informed the council and they arranged for a care package for her on her behalf.
