Meals at home

If you are finding it difficult to cook for yourself, you may be eligible for our meals at home service.

Under the meals at home service, frozen meals are available following an assessment by one of our social workers to vulnerable people of all age groups in the county, such as elderly people or those with physical or learning disabilities etc.

The meals are provided by apetito, which provides a range of high-quality, nutritionally balanced and tasty dishes that come in a variety of 60 different options.

Apetito can cater for specific needs such as:

  • dysphasia diets
  • gluten free
  • reduced sugar
  • energy dense diets.

Meals are delivered fortnightly and can be stored in your freezer until you are ready to cook them. Orders are placed directly with the apetito delivery person.

The meals can either be cooked in a conventional oven or microwave, or in a specialist apetito microwave. If you do not have a freezer or a microwave, we can provide you with one.

If you need help cooking or preparing your meals we may be able to arrange for a carer to visit your home and support you with this. This would be subject to an assessment by one of our social workers. You can find out more from our Care at Home section.

There is a standard charge for the meals provision service, which will be explained to you at the time of your assessment.
