Access to Dunbar Station
The council's new path on the south side of the railway is now open, and Network Rail are expected to begin works on its land in January to connect the path to the southern platform. As part of the railwayside improvements, the gate will be widened and a fence added to prevent access onto the railway line for safety. Covered cycle parking, and ticket machines will be installed as well.
The gate into the station at the southern platform will remain closed until the end of March when all works are scheduled to be finished.
The council’s plans for the project were first shared with the community several years ago and the resulting feedback was incorporated into the design. The new path has a shallower slope than its predecessor to ensure it is more accessible.
The Scottish Government is fully funding the works by both the council and Network Rail with £577,000 provided through their Active Travel Infrastructure Fund.
