3.2 Members' duties and responsibilities

  • read copy of previous minutes and note any inaccuracies.
  • submit agenda items to the Secretary
  • take all relevant papers to the meeting and arrive on time.
  • send apologies for non-attendance to the Secretary as early as possible.
  • make your own notes of any actions you have agreed to.
  • if appropriate make known the views of any group, you are representing.
  • report back to any such groups.
  • present your own views on agenda items.
  • listen to and consider the views of others.
  • fulfil any allocated task within the time given.
  • undertake your fair share of the work of the committee.
  • make any reports you have agreed to.
  • supply a copy of any report to the Secretary.
  • be prepared to look critically at the work done by the committee and contribute your comments.
  • remember that a committee is a democratic structure, and all committee members have an equal share in decision-making.
  • be on the lookout for new people to recruit to the committee.

  • to receive correct, full, and up-to-date information.
  • to have your views heard and considered.
  • to be consulted and have a full say in decision-making.
  • to take credit for work done by the committee.
  • to have access to training in skills which could benefit the work of the committee.
  • to be treated with respect and loyalty.
