Moving about your home to prevent falls

Often one the the main fears as we get older is about falling at home.  We've put together some top tips and video demonstrations on how to move around safely in your home, how to prevent falls, and should you have a fall, the best way to recover and get back up again.

 

Daily living assistance equipment

Installing assistance equipment, or making adaptations to your home can be effective means of supporting you to live safely and independently at home. 

This could include: 

  • using daily living aids to support with everyday tasks such as preparing meals and hot drinks, getting dressed yourself and moving around safely within your home.  
  • using equipment like shower grab rails or commodes to support with washing and going to the toilet 
  • adapting your home by widening doors or installing a ramp
