Pet shop Licences
To sell pet animals, you will need to obtain a licence from the council.
Officers from the Food and Safety team may need to inspect your premises to make sure that the animals you are selling will be kept in suitable conditions which meet the required health and safety standards. They will also check the welfare of the animals.
If the application is granted, it will run from the grant date to 31st December. All Pet Shop Licences are due for renewal prior to expiry date and if the renewal is granted, the licence will run from 1st January to 31st December every year. Pet animals cannot be sold to a person under the age of 12.
